House System

Our House System is a central part of our everyday culture at Baxter College. It provides a feeling of being part of a community, encouraging active and open participation and team spirit; which students carry with them on their journey from Key Stage 3 through to Key Stage 5. It enables students to gain opportunities to engage with new activities, take pride in their achievements and have high expectations of themselves and other students within their House. The House system at Baxter is centred around three core values; community, opportunity and participation. Based on these values, a strong sense of House identity develops.

The House System helps to build students skills for life, including leadership, confidence, initiative, communication skills, creativity, organisation and empathy in order to nurture well rounded, versatile individuals that can succeed in all aspects of their lives. The focus is to engage students in wider school life, by providing opportunities to succeed in House events; such as our House curriculum day, half termly challenges and competitions. Celebrating our students’ achievements is imperative in promoting our positive Baxter culture; we reward participation and achievement through House point awards, House prizes and rewards which are presented throughout the year. Each student at Baxter College is part of our House community and their individual input will help to contribute towards their team’s success.

Beyond the Classroom

A key feature of student life at Baxter College is the extensive enrichment programme. We offer a comprehensive range of activities to engage all students including a variety of sports, creative and performing arts, Duke of Edinburgh scheme and the Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) programme. These are complimented by a number of wider opportunities for your child to learn through organising community events, charity events, field trips and overseas visits.

We have a wide selection of sports teams which play competitive matches against local and regional schools; we also enter regional and national cups which offer a broad experience for students. Our Creative Arts and Design Technology faculty also offer a vast assortment of opportunities to demonstrate the performing skills of our students, our recent production of ‘Legally Blonde’ was no exception.

As a school, we are also proud supporters of the Worcestershire Voices and Visions, displaying work and performing at a range of events organised as part of this annual programme across Worcestershire.

These activities enable our students to develop their creativity, self-discipline, communication skills, team working and sportsmanship which furnishes them for life after Baxter College.
