Years 7, 8 & 9

At Baxter College, our purpose is to empower all of our students to take responsibility for their own learning and unlock their potential by providing them with a range of opportunities to prepare them for their next steps. We deliver a creative and interactive curriculum for our students which supports the development of well-rounded individuals.

We run an 8 period day, with each being 40 minutes in length (although some lessons are 'double', being 80 minutes per period). We believe Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 pupils should experience the broadest curriculum possible with exposure to a range of subjects. KS3 curriculum is a broad and balanced offer for all students, taught by specialist teachers through which they develop skills, knowledge and understanding and are then able to make informed choices about their KS4 curriculum which they start in Year 10.

2 lessons per week Food & Nutrition and Design Technology studied on rotation
2 lessons per fortnight for Drama & Dance

PE: 4 lessons per week

Personal Growth (PSHE): 2 lessons per week

Computer Science: 2 lessons per week

Enrichment 8: 1 lesson per week
Wednesday period 8 is our enrichment session. All students in KS3 have the opportunity to select a number of activities offered by staff from across the school. Activities range from the School Production to Crouchet, from Ground Force to Archaeology. Over the year pupils will experience 3 different activities, with the view to develop a physical activity, a new skill and offer a service, this ties in with our work around the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme. Pupil outcomes are captured in many different ways and celebrated across the school.
