The partnership between the school and parents/carers is vital for the successful education of students. It is built on the values of respect, honesty and collaboration, recognising that the education is a complicated process that is enriched by a shared commitment to learning, constructive feedback and belief in success and achievement for all.
For this partnership to be productive, the parent community needs to have a voice that supports regular communication and influences the strategic decision making of the school. The partnership must recognise that the parent's views and ideas can positively contribute to the school and that many of the decisions made by the school have a direct impact on the home.
The Parent Council offers the opportunity for parents/carers to engage in this decision making process in the developments that will affect them most directly. In joining with both the governing body and the senior leadership team, its guidance will be used to inform decisions that the school will make.
Some of our Parent Council Members thoughts....
"Being a Parent Council member whilst my son and daughter were at Baxter College allowed me to still be involved in their school life. Providing advice, ideas and thoughts on the processes that affect learning and young students wellbeing at school gave me a voice that was heard and valued."
