The partnership between the school and parents/carers is vital for the successful education of students. This relationship operates in many different contexts through many different routes of communication, but it must be built on the values of respect, honesty and collaboration, recognising that the education is a complicated process that is enriched by a shared commitment to learning, constructive feedback and belief in success and achievement for all.
Warning to Parents
A new app has recently launched that has led to many child protection services working together to safeguard children who are using it, due to the concern that the app is being used as a platform for child sexual exploitation. The ‘FaceCast’ app, although designed for those over 18, allows children who state they are 13 to access it and use a live video mode, chat to strangers and to earn in-app coins.
If you find this app on your child’s phone as part of your regular checks, we recommend you delete the app to ensure their safety. If you have any concerns or would like to discuss this matter in more detail, please contact Mr Birch or a member of the Safeguarding team via Reception on 01562 741 524. Alternatively, you can email email@example.com directly. If you are concerned that your child may have been exploited via the FaceCast app, please contact the Police.
