Partnerships

We are fortunate to have close links with local businesses, invaluable in providing mentoring, work experience and all round support of the school. Our partnership working creates opportunities for our students to gain valuable skills that help them to develop into well-rounded individuals who are equipped for their onward journey into further education at college or university, employment or training.

Over recent years, we have worked closely with The Community Housing Group who have offered a wide variety of opportunities for our young people. Students in year 8 and year 9 attend an annual careers event at the company headquarters in Kidderminster, where they are able to learn about a number of occupations, advice on CV writing and completing job applications. This helps them in their decision making when considering their GCSE option choices. Many students have also gone on to apprenticeships with one of the subsidiaries: Wyre Forest Community Housing, Vestia Community Trust and Oakleaf Commercial Services in a number of areas such as building and construction, care, finance and grounds maintenance.

Through links with the Community Housing Group, we have also had support from Keepmoat Homes and Regeneration who funded the development of an outdoor nature area with dipping pond. This also created the opportunity for students involved in the Prince’s Trust programme to work on the project, creating a wildlife friendly area that will be an excellent educational resource for years to come.

We also have a well-established relationship with Hewett Recruitment, who are keen to nurture and develop people for their business through the ‘Hewett Academy’ and have recently recruited two apprentices through Baxter College which is another testament to partnership working.

“The team at Baxter showed clear understanding of their students’ skills and career plans. The students we have found through Baxter College came to us with a confidence often lacking in most young people today, they are proving to be fast learners, enthusiastic to gain knowledge and so far progressing very well. We look forward to seeing how they progress through the Hewett Talent Builder programme.” Joanne Watkins MIRP, Operations Manager
